A. 2021-77 Recommendation for approval of the renewal of professional services and medical supply contract purchase order to IDEXX Laboratories, Inc., to provide SNAP tests and outside laboratory testing for Animal Services, for the period September 22, 2021 through August 14, 2022, for a contract total amount not to exceed $23,793, Request for Proposal RFP #18-096-JM, third renewal of three (3) options. All laboratory testing expenses paid for via grant from DuPage Animal Friends.
Member DeSart inquired about whether Animal Services actively reports instances of Coronavirus in pets. Laura explained that thankfully DCAS has not seen an animal test positive for Coronavirus, but if one were to test positive, staff would most certainly notify the Health Department.

Laura also added that Spay Illinois is by far the most active PPF Spay/Neuter program partner. She attributes this to the fact that Spay Illinois actively promotes the PPF program to their clients. Also, because Spay Illinois is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide low-cost veterinary services for those in need, their client base represents our target demographic for this program. Laura mentioned that we would love to see other PPF program veterinarians participate in the program the way that Spay Illinois has.

Animal Services has issued 279 PPF spay/neuter vouchers to-date, which is up from last year. Registration revenue is up from last year and has surpassed FY21 budget expectations. As a result, we have seen an increase in Pet Population Fund differential fees collected, providing more available funds for the PPF low income spay/neuter program.
In 2019 Animal Services sold just over 66,000 1-year tags and approximately 26,000 3-year tags through veterinary partners. Year to date Animal Services has already issued approximately 50,000 1-year and 22,000 3-year registration tags. Veterinary partners are ordering more tags this year, likely the result of veterinary clinic business picking up as Covid pets are getting vaccinated.
Staff held a new volunteer orientation on September 15th. New volunteers who have attended orientation will be on-boarded and trained in the coming weeks. We are still actively recruiting to fill three full time and two part time positions.
Staff continue to host humane education webinars and are busy attending events around town. The September 18th Falling for Felines adoption event was a success resulting in 15 adoptions for the day. Members of the DAF board were present as was the specialty veterinary vehicle full of cats & kittens for adoption. More similar pop-up adoption events will likely be held before the end of the year, including one for rabbits to be supplemented by rabbit education and training for potential adopters.
8. OLD BUSINESS
