DuPage County Sheriff's Merit Commission met Sept. 16.

Members Present: Tony Reyes, Chairman

Meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. in Conference Room 3500A of the Jack T. Kneupfer
Administration Building, 421 North County Farm Road, Wheaton, Illinois.
Roll Call
On roll call, Chairman Reyes, Commissioner Sommario and Commissioner Vasbinder were present.
Public Comment - None
Report from Sheriff's Office
Chief Toerpe informed the Commissioners that the Law Enforcement Bureau is short 10 deputies.
The Sheriff's Office has received 4 retirement letters and anticipates another 20 deputies retiring within the next 1B months. Chief Toerpe is exploring ways to strengthen the lateral transfer program with the Finance Department and County Board. Ms. Krygowski will wait to renew the lateral transfer advertisements on The Blue Line until after any decision has been made regarding incentives.
Adjournment into Executive Session
Chairman Reyes called for a motion to convene into Executive Session pursuant to Section 5 ILCS 120l2(c)(1) for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of a specific employee, One-on-one interviews. Commissioner Sommario moved.
Seconded by Commissioner Vasbinder. Roll call. All Ayes. Motion carried.
Chief Toerpe left the room.
The Commission convened into Executive Session at B:36 a.m.
The Commission convened back into Regular session al9:22 a.m.
Matters, to be referred from Executive Session
a) Action on certification of candidates who were subject to one-on-one interviews on September 16,2021. Chairman Reyes called for a motion to certify lateral transfer to Law Enforcement candidate 2052. Commissioner Sommario moved. Seconded by Commissioner Vasbinder. Roll call. All ayes. Motion carried. Chairman Reyes called for a motion to certify Corrections candidates 2230,2233 and2237. Commissioner Sommario moved. Seconded by Commissioner Vasbinder. Roll call. All ayes. Motion carried.
