National University Of Science issued the following announcement on Oct. 22

Moira Jenkins, DC, LAc., has recently been named Chair of the Department of Basic Sciences for National University’s Illinois campus.

In this role, Dr. Jenkins will lead the department’s faculty, coordinate instruction, advise students, and serve as a member on several committees that assess effective delivery and content of material for student success. She will also teach the Head and Neck Anatomy and Neurophysiology course.

“I am enjoying the administrative role as chair but am grateful to still be in the classroom engaging with students,” she said.

Dr. Jenkins previously taught various anatomy and biology courses at NUHS and Northern Illinois University, where she was voted Most Valuable Professor for three years and recognized for her work in mentorship. She also has 20 years of experience as a clinic director at a practice that emphasized nutrition, orthopedics, chiropractic, physical therapy, and rehabilitation.

She earned her Doctor of Chiropractic, Bachelor of Biomedical Science and acupuncture license from National University. Additionally she earned her Master of Science in Biology with a specialization in human anatomical science from Northern Illinois University.

As the clubs and activities return to campus, Dr. Jenkins is looking forward to increased student and community engagement.

“The close-knit community on National University’s campus is just one of the reasons I wanted to return,” she said. “I remember this from the time I was a student here to all the years I spent as an adjunct instructor. To me, National always feels like home!”
