DuPage County Redistricting Committee met June 1.

1. CALL TO ORDER
8:30 AM meeting was called to order by Chair James Zay at 8:30 AM.

No public comment was offered.
4. CHAIRMAN'S REMARKS - CHAIR ZAY
Chair Zay welcomed the members and asked Policy & Program Manager, Jason Blumenthal to update the committee on the activity in Springfield. Mr. Blumenthal informed the committee that SB825 alters the date for when petitions can begin to be circulated for the General Primary Election to January 13, 2022 and amends the petition filing period to March 7-14, 2022.
The deadline for mapping has been amended to December 31, 2021.

A. RDC-P-0291-21 Grapple, LLC Consulting Contract for a period of May 27, 2021 - June 30, 2021, for a one time fee of $30,000 to provide general consulting services on matters concerning the 2021 County redistricting process.

Member Chavez put forward her thoughts on the next steps. In June & July she would like to see preliminary maps drawn, in August preliminary census data can be reviewed, and final census data should be in September, lawyer review in October, and perhaps public hearings in November. ASA McCarthy informed the committee that details of the new bill are still being reviewed. If a map was to be brought forward by the Chairman, it would have to be submitted by the third Wednesday in November. Chair Zay would like input from our consultant and will invite them to present at committee this month.
