Business Registration Renewals for 2022 Now Due

In recognition of the financial burdens all businesses continue to face due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Village Board has waived the annual Business Registration Fee for 2022. In order to maintain accurate records and emergency contact information for all Glen Ellyn businesses, businesses are asked to complete a brief renewal form online at www.glenellyn.org/renewal. Questions regarding the business registration renewal process may also be directed to the Village’s Finance Department at 630.469.5000.

As an incentive, one registration will be selected at random to receive a $100 Glen Ellyn Chamber Gift Check. Businesses must complete the renewal form by November 5, 2021 to qualify. 

Main Street Parking Garage: Pedestrian Access to Main Street Temporarily Closed

Beginning this week, installation of brick commenced on the northeast corner of the Apex 400 project. For the safety of pedestrians during this installation, the walkway from the Main Street parking garage to the sidewalk on Main Street will be temporarily closed. It is anticipated that the work will take approximately two weeks, with a targeted re-opening date of Monday, October 18. 
 
To assist customers, signage is on-site notifying parking patrons of this temporary closure. The garage is accessible for both vehicles and pedestrians via Glenwood Avenue only.

Crescent Boulevard Closure from Glenwood to Main: 
Monday, October 11

Due to a water service upgrade needed near the intersection of Main Street and Crescent Boulevard in the downtown, Crescent Boulevard from Glenwood Avenue to Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic on Monday, October 11. A portion of the north sidewalk on Crescent will also be closed to pedestrians, please note posted signage. 

The closure will be setup at 6 a.m. to allow the contractor to start working promptly at 7 a.m. The street will be closed for the duration of he day and is anticipated to be back open before evening. 

Businesses will remain open through the duration of this project. 

Community Development: Modified Hours Begin October 11

Beginning Monday, October 11, the Village's Community Development Department will be closing the counter to the public at 3:30 p.m., an hour earlier each day through the end of the year. The permit counter will be open for business from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.  Please note that phone lines will remain open and inspections will still be conducted while the counter is closed.
 
Additionally, the counter will be closed on Wednesday, October 13 from noon to 4:30 p.m. for Departmental training. Please note that during the half day training, phones will go to voicemail.

Glen Ellyn Chamber to Host Virtual Job Fair

Glen Ellyn Chamber Members are invited to participate in a Virtual Job Fair on October 12, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Job Fair will be held via zoom.

Interested businesses must register with the Chamber of Commerce by Friday, October 8, 2021 at noon. For additional information or to register, visit the Glen Ellyn Chamber website, www.glenellynchamber.com/JobFair.
3D Chalk Artist Featured at Glen Ellyn Chalk the Walk Event on October 9

3D Award-winning chalk artist Nate Baranowski will create artwork in the heart of downtown Glen Ellyn in front of Citibank, 444 N. Main Street, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 9.
 
“Chalk the Walk” is part of the College of DuPage (COD) Public Art program. This program is a two-year initiative in which College of DuPage is partnering with DuPage County communities in the creation of public artworks and fostering community engagement in the arts.
 
Baranowski is a Chicago-based award-winning artist who has traveled the world doing installations. He has worked in a range of mediums, including large chalk murals, indoor and outdoor painted murals, acrylic on canvas, and various forms of digital painting and concept art. For his appearance in Glen Ellyn, Baranowski will be doing what he specializes in: 3D chalk creation that looks like it pops right out of the ground.
 
The Public Art Committee encourages everyone to join in on the fun and chalk the sidewalk in front of your home or business from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 9. Those who wish to participate can pick up a box of free chalk this week (one package per family) from the following locations, while supplies last:
  • Glen Ellyn Public Library, 400 Duane Street
  • McAninch Arts Center Box Office, 425 Fawell Boulevard
  • Civic Center, Finance Department, 535 Duane Street
 
Free chalk will also be available on Saturday, October 9 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the following locations:
  • Lake Ellyn Park Playground
  • Citibank, 444 N. Main Street (during the live 3D chalk performance)
 
Three packages of chalk will have a winning ice cream gift certificate. Those who participate are asked to share their family-friendly artwork and upload a photo to be shared with the community at https://tinyurl.com/WalksGE.
