Bruno

The little big man, the Marxist school board president of District 41, Bob Bruno, and wannabe king of Brunoville, has pulled off one of the biggest bonehead political moves of all time. Now, I am a retired Libertarian teacher and actually have a lot of positive feelings for what the unions did for education in the past, but everybody knows that the Democratic Party gets their campaigns subsidized in part by a portion of the dues from every single member. The unions get very little in return but that doesn’t bother them. The National unions have become a wing of the DNC. Bob Bruno is well connected with the Illinois and likely the national Democratic Party. He is to the left of the left in this country.

So what do unions have to do with anything? Well, let’s set the stage. The man who would be king has been on a mission from G… ummm, well, just a mission, to make Glen Ellyn schools the poster child for vaccines and masks and inclusiveness for all… unless you are a conservative or libertarian. He claims to be an Equity champion, yet he and his board and the administrators he leads hired a large group of about twenty new teachers for the district that included one male and ZERO people of color as teachers! And the male teacher was white and teaches Spanish! All talk as he struts like a peacock for the social justice warriors. Glen Ellyn is for Everyone… unless you are a black or brown elementary teacher! But, he is well connected with the liberal power base. He has made a lot of money from this connection. He would do anything for them.

A group of 5-8 mostly women demonstrators have been outside the D41 office building for a couple of weeks now. They hold signs, talk to each other, give thumbs up to those who honk their horns for them and smile as they exercise their First Amendment right. Bruno wants them closed down. Yes, the guy who was let go from a teaching job for organizing a peaceful student protest is now the man, seeking to shut down peaceful protest. His followers have organized people to try to intimidate the protestors, steal their property and lie about what is going on. Czar Bruno went before the Village Of Glen Ellyn Trustees to ask them to create an unconstitutional law which they did not agree to do.

So up the food chain he goes. State representative Terra Costa Howard was next. Commissar Bruno got Ms. Howard to file House Bill 4151 for the emperor. The bill “amends the Criminal Code of 2012. Creates the offense of disorderly conduct in a school zone. Provides that a person commits the offense when he or she: (1) knowingly displays signs, engages in oral protest, education, or passing leaflets or handbills within 300 feet of school premises, from one hour prior to the start of the school day until one hour after the school day ends; or (2) knowingly approaches within 8 feet of an individual who is within 300 feet of school premises for purposes of displaying signs, engaging in oral protest, education, or passing leaflets or handbills, from one hour prior to the start of the school day until one hour after the school day ends. Provides that disorderly conduct in a school zone is a Class A misdemeanor.”

Ummmmmm, Houston we have a problem! This bill, if passed, prohibits public school personnel who are on strike to picket anywhere within a football field distance of the school! Oh, the humanity! The very people Herr Bruno wants to thank for helping him become so rich and powerful are the ones being hurt the most by this bill. But the incredible irony of the unintended consequences of Bruno’s power grab keep backfiring on the little king who could. What a great comic relief he is.
