Village of Roselle issued the following announcement on Sept. 9
The Village Board will meet in the Council Chambers at Village Hall on September 13 at 7:00 p.m., with the meeting streamed live on the Village's YouTube channel. The meeting agenda will be posted on the Village's website tomorrow.
The public may submit a comment or question for Village Board consideration ahead of time by using the Village Board Meeting Public Participation form by 4:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
Live comments will be accepted by in-person attendees during the meeting. Masks are required by attendees entering Village Hall.
September is National Preparedness Month
National Preparedness Month (NPM) is recognized each September to promote family and community disaster planning now and throughout the year. As our nation continues to respond to COVID-19, there is no better time to be involved this September. The 2021 NPM theme is: "Prepare to Protect. Preparing for disasters is protecting everyone you love."

Roselle Fire & Police Departments Hosting Remembrance Ceremony on September 11
A Remembrance Ceremony marking 20 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania will be held on Saturday, September 11 at the Roselle Fire Department, 100 E. Maple Ave. The ceremony is jointly hosted by the Roselle Fire Department and the Roselle Police Department.
The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the posting of the colors and a welcome statement by Roselle Fire Chief Mark Bozik and Roselle Police Chief Steve Herron. Mayor David Pileski and other elected officials will also speak, followed by keynote speaker Michael J. Fagel, PhD.
Fagel, a Homeland Security Training Institute instructor and Certified Emergency Manager, will share insights from his time as a member of the Department of Justice 9/11 Task Force, having worked at Ground Zero for three months following the 9/11 attacks. Fagel has also served with the North Aurora Fire Department, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, as a Defense Department contractor in the Middle East and stateside, and with Argonne National Laboratory in their Homeland Security and Intelligence programs. Fagel currently teaches Crisis Management courses at Northern Illinois University, the Illinois Institute of Technology, and at Eastern Kentucky University.
Northwest DuPage American Legion Post 1084 will close out the ceremony with a gun salute, the playing of “Taps” and the retirement of colors. The public is invited to attend this outdoor event, which will be staged at the front entrance of the Fire Department along Prospect Street, just north of Maple Avenue.
Roselle Cruise Night Sept. 10
Friday nights are cruise nights in Roselle. Roselle Cruise Night on September 10 runs from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Roselle American Legion Post 1084, 344 E. Maple Ave., with live music from Rick Lindy and the Wild Ones at 7:00 p.m.
Roselle Chamber of Commerce Hosting "Sip and Stroll"
The Roselle Chamber of Commerce is hosting a "Sip and Stroll" event, featuring participating Roselle Town Center businesses, on September 18 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 each in advance ($50 at the door). Event starts and ends at Friendly Ford, 333 E. Irving Park Rd., Roselle.
Sons of the American Legion Hosting Chili Cook-off Sept. 11
The Roselle Sons Of The American Legion is hosting their 1st Annual Chili Cook-off on September 11 at Roselle American Legion Post 1084, 344 E. Maple Ave., from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Those interested in entering their best chili recipe can call call Bill Mehilos at (630) 440-4895 to enter. Tasting wristbands will be available for purchase for $8 during the event, with tasting participants eligible to vote for their favorite chili recipe.
