Celebrate Labor Day Weekend With a Bang on September 4
Celebrate Labor Day weekend with a bang this year at the Village-sponsored fireworks display on September 4 at Lake Park High School West Campus, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. This fun, free event will start at 5:00 p.m. with food trucks, a touch-a-truck display with police, fire and public works vehicles, info booths, and opportunities to meet police officers, firefighters, and other Village employees. The evening concludes with the fireworks display at 8:00 p.m.
Expect road closures on Bryn Mawr Avenue throughout the event. September 5 has been set as the rain date for the fireworks show.
The Village rescheduled its traditional Independence Day fireworks display for Labor Day weekend this year because of uncertainty regarding the timing of the state fully reopening earlier this summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sign Up for Public Safety Notifications With Nixle
Weather forecasts made the headlines in the Chicagoland area several days in a row this week, with heat advisories, severe thunderstorm warnings, and tornado warnings. When the National Weather Center issues a watch or warning that affects Roselle, the Roselle Police Department notifies the community through a subscription system called Nixle.
Nixle is used to notify members of the community in real-time about localized emergency situations and relevant public advisories, like severe weather, criminal activities, traffic incidents, missing persons, local events, and more. Community members can register by texting 60172 to 888777 from their mobile phone or by visiting the Roselle Police Department website to register online.

The Roselle Fire Department is offering a Heartsaver CPR/AED course on Thursday, September 2 at the Fire Station, 100 E. The cost of the course is $45, paid in advance.
The course teaches all lay rescuers when to phone 9-1-1, how to administer CPR, how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and how to provide relief from choking. Participants of this class will be certified by the American Heart Association in the Heartsaver AED course.
The Roselle Fire Department also offers a Heartsaver Blended Learning course, which includes an online portion and a hands-on session. Cost for the Heartsaver/AED Skills Check course is $35. Online, Mail & Drop Box Options Best for Vehicle Sticker Purchases
With mask wearing and social distancing returning to Village Hall as COVID-19 cases are again on the rise, the easiest and safest way to purchase vehicle stickers is by mail, by using the payment drop box in front of Village Hall, or by applying for the sticker online (click on one-time payment option).
Village vehicle sticker applications were mailed to residents in late July. Any changes can be made directly on the form and returned with payment. Changes to information on the form can be emailed to financedept@roselle.il.us for those paying online. Stickers are also available for sale in person at Village Hall. Failure to receive a pre-printed application does not exempt any individual from purchasing stickers by the September 30 deadline.
Every owner or operator of a motor vehicle (cars, trucks, motorcycles, and trailers) who resides within the Village or whose motor vehicle is based within the Village must obtain a Roselle vehicle sticker. Stickers must be purchased by September 30 and displayed on October 1 to avoid penalties. Visit the Vehicle Stickers page on the Village's website for more information.
