City of Naperville issued the following announcement on June 15

Neighborhoods throughout Naperville are invited to join communities nationwide and participate in National Night Out from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Online registration is now available at www.naperville.il.us/nno

Commonly called “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” National Night Out is a nationwide event designed to heighten drug prevention and crime awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships. Naperville’s National Night Out was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but nearly 50 Naperville neighborhoods participated the previous year by hosting block parties, potlucks, parades, ice cream socials and more! 2021 will mark the 25th time the City of Naperville has participated in National Night Out.

Neighborhoods are asked to register their 2021 National Night Out events with the Naperville Police Department by July 16. Registration is free and will allow members of the Naperville Police, Fire, Public Works, Animal Control, Electric and Water Utility departments, and Park District Police to visit many of the registered events. The City will continue to monitor federal, state and local guidelines pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic and will make any necessary adjustments to staff participation in National Night Out as the event nears.

On the night of the neighborhood events, residents throughout Naperville are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters and other city personnel. Events such as cookouts, block parties and neighborhood walks will all occur simultaneously throughout Naperville and nationwide. Residents are being asked to keep universal health precautions and any applicable COVID-19 restrictions or recommendations in mind as they plan and execute their neighborhood events.

Donation Drive

The City of Naperville has partnered with DuPage Senior Citizens Council for this year’s National Night Out donation drive. Neighborhoods are encouraged to conduct a donation drive for this worthy cause in conjunction with their National Night Out events. A donation box will be provided to each registered event. A printable flyer containing more information about our partner organization and a list of requested items is available at www.naperville.il.us/nno
