Illinois GOP Chairman Don Tracy is soliciting all the help he can get for Bob Grogan in his fight to reclaim the DuPage County Auditor post he once owned.
“Bob was ‘defeated’ on election night 2020 by just 75 votes out of nearly half a million votes cast,” Tracy said. “But of course, Bob did what he does best and worked overtime to find mistakes that may have distorted what really happened.”
After a discovery recount uncovered irregularities that included 1,600 more ballots being cast than the number of people that actually voted, a judge has now ordered a full recount, a first in DuPage County.
Tracy is hoping that’s where more residents will come in to help.
“A full recount involves hiring a lot of good lawyers and other folks to help monitor the process,” he said. “In short, Bob’s battle to provide true ballot integrity - and potentially flipping his race in the process - in our state’s second most populated county will cost a lot of money. A win here will send shockwaves across the Illinois Democrat machine and will be the opening salvo in the battle for ballot integrity in this state. We want to help Team Grogan fund this fight,” he added. “The ILGOP has set up the Grogan Recount Fund and ask that you consider making a contribution today.”
Final vote counts had Grogan losing his re-election bid to Democrat William White by a 233,121 to 233,046 count. At least five people in the area now face charges of voting on behalf of dead people in the November general election.
Even after White was sworn in on Dec. 1, Grogan filed suit seeking a full recount. His court filing comes after he first filed a petition in DuPage against White and County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek, requesting that he be declared the winner based on “irregularities” he alleges including election judges not initialing ballots and more ballots being cast than the number of people who voted.
