County of Du Page Judicial/Public Safety Committee Met March 2.

8:00 AM meeting was called to order by Chair Julie Renehan at 8:03 AM.

4. CHAIRWOMAN'S REMARKS - CHAIR RENEHAN

Chair Renehan thanked Chief Judge Kenneth Popejoy and Trial Court Administrator Suzanne Armstrong for recently providing a tour of the court facilities. Thirteen million dollars in CARES Act funds were used to make the substantial upgrades, which included the replacement of the HVAC system and reconfiguration of court rooms, including the third floor jury room, all in accordance with CDC protocols. Efforts by Chief Administrative Officer Nick Kottmeyer, Facilities Director Tim Harbaugh, and Facilities Supervisor Mark Thomas were also applauded. Former JPS Chair Grant Eckhoff and Chief Judge Daniel Guerin were also commended for initiating the massive project. Finally, members were reminded of the special call this afternoon which would be discussing the impact of HB3653, now known as the Safety, Accountability, Fairness, and Equity Today (SAFE-T) Act, to DuPage County.

Undersheriff Chief Ed Moore provided a brief explanation of the four agreements. Member Ozog requested clarification on the extra services, to which Undersheriff Moore answered. Member Eckhoff provided historical background on the agreements, to which Undersheriff Moore clarified.
