COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 89: Seventh-grade students can apply to be a 2021-22 Student Board Member

Meeting 11

Community Consolidated School District 89 issued the following announcement on Apr 19.

Seventh-grade students can now apply to be one of the 2021-22 Student Representatives to the Board of Education. The Student Board Members will represent their classmates at monthly Board of Education meetings.

All applicants will be interviewed and two students will be selected as the district’s Student Representatives to the Board of Education. The Community Consolidated School District 89 Student Board Member program is designed to give students a greater voice in the district’s vision and planning. CCSD 89 is one of the only districts in Illinois to have middle-school Student Board Members.

While the Student Board Members do not vote, they provide important insights on life as a student in CCSD 89. They will discuss their school experiences, including what motivates them, the challenges they face, and the successes they’ve accomplished.

Glen Crest students who will be in eighth grade during the 2021-22 school year can apply. Student Board Members will be expected to attend the once-a-month Board meetings, which start at 7 p.m.

More information about the expectations for this position is included in the application which can be filled out here: https://forms.gle/v8eM6WowLtEkskQZ9

A paper copy of the application is available here: https://bit.ly/3gcvq55

A link to a Student Board Member application was emailed to every seventh-grade Glen Crest student on April 19.

The entire application, including the recommendation letter, must be turned in by 5 p.m. May 14.
