City of West Chicago issued the following announcement on Dec. 15.
The West Chicago Police Department is proud to announce a new way of reporting an incident.
Residents can now skip the 911 call, avoid the drive to the police station and simply report the incident online. The online system may be used to report the following types of incidents:
– Accidental Damage to Vehicle
– Burglary from Motor Vehicle
– Criminal Damage to Property/Vehicle – under $300
– Harassment by Electronic Communications
– Identity Theft – Lost Property
– Telephone Harassment
– Theft under $500 – no suspect information
– Trespass to Vehicle – no suspect information
Please note, online reports can only be taken if:
– It is not an emergency
– No one is injured
– You do not have any suspect information
– The incident occurred within the West Chicago city limits
– No evidence needs to be collected at the incident location
– There are no witnesses
Completing an online report is simple and outlined in the steps below:
– Go to the website (www.westchicago.org)
– Scroll down to the bottom
– Under REQUEST click link labelled “Citizen Online Reporting”
– This will take the user to a page which contains a link labelled “Online Reporting System”. Click the link
– The user will be taken to a public portal where you can follow the prompts to submit a report
