U.S. Rep. Sean Casten called constituents who didn’t vote for him 'racist homophobes' in recorded comments earlier today.

Casten was recorded saying that if he didn’t win by more than 10 points, that meant the bulk of his district was racist and homophobic.

“If I win by less than ten, that says that 45% of the district is racist homophobes,” Casten said

His challenger, Jeanne Ives, posted a video of the comments on Facebook today.

“This afternoon at a polling place in Wheaton, Sean Casten doubled down on his total disdain for anyone who disagrees with him,” Ives wrote. “In a conversation with voters, Casten states ‘If I win by less than ten, that says that 45% of the district is racist homophobes.’”

Ives called Casten a “failed experiment.”

“Sean Casten doesn't care to understand your disagreements with him. He just thinks you are a low-life if you don't think like he does,” Ives wrote.
