Naperville FD responds to 192 fires in 2018

Naperville Fire District responded to 2995 calls in 2018 - 3.6 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Naperville included 192 fires - 80 structure fires, 37 vehicle fires and 75 other fires. The fire department also responded to 17 calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $4,097,050 in fire loss - or about $21,339 per fire.

The department also received 2786 false calls, including 50 malicious calls and 2736 other false calls.

The calls resulted in six civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The Naperville Fire District had an annual budget of $1,784,576 in 2018.

The Naperville Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 185 active employees and 123 retired or inactive employees, was $13,077,798 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $55,888 for every fire in 2017.
