ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 41: Wehrli Hosts Successful Child ID Event

Child development

Illinois State House District 41 issued the following announcement on Aug. 24.

Nearly 90 children and their families participated in a free Child ID event hosted by State Representative Grant Wehrli on August 20.

“Nearly every timeslot for the entire event was book well ahead of time, and families were really appreciative that we offered this outreach event,” said Wehrli. “We were able to limit the event space to one family at a time, and everyone was happy to utilize social distancing and mask guidelines. Participants went home with a valuable document that includes a photo, a full set of fingerprints, and a section to be filled out by parents and medical professionals for personal, medical and dental information.”

Wehrli partnered with the Naperville Police Department for the four-hour event. “Officer Julie Smith from the Naperville Police Department did the fingerprinting, and she had nice conversations with the children and families at the event,” added Wehrli. “A special thanks also goes out to the Rx Abuse Leadership Initiative (RALI), which donated prescription drug disposal bags that were given to each family.”

Because the event was so popular, Wehrli said he plans to make the Child ID event an annual outreach activity in the 41st District.
