During the COVID-19 pandemic that is affecting so many residents of Illinois, Dr. Michael Camerer is doing what he can to help those who have been most affected by the shutdown and job losses.
The local chiropractor, Bartlett village trustee and state House Republican candidate has organized a food drive for the Wayne and Hanover Township food pantries.
“During this unprecedented time, I have been inspired by the efforts of neighbors and community groups stepping up to serve those most in need. I am proud that my team and I are able to connect with residents throughout the district and organize the food drive to lend a helping hand to the dedicated staff at our local food pantries,” Camerer said.
The stay-at-home order by Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is expected to last at least through the end of May, and the Camerer campaign knows that they can help the residents of the two townships. Team Camerer is looking for donations of nonperishable food items and is even willing to come pick up donations directly from a donor’s porches.
Individuals interested in donating are asked to contact Team Camerer at camererforillinois@gmail.com.
Camerer is challenging incumbent Rep. Diane Pappas in the 45th House District in the November election. The northwest suburban district includes Cook and DuPage counties, including all or part of Addison, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Hanover Park, Itaska, Roselle, Wayne, Wood Dale, and West Chicago.
In addition to serving as a Bartlett trustee, Camerer has worked as a chiropractor in the community for more than three decades and is an adjunct professor at Judson University in Elgin. He and his wife have three adult children. In March, Camerer defeated two GOP challengers, Alfredo Manzo, and Harry R. Ramey Jr., to face off against Pappas.
