Owners of the Two Chefs Café and Catering felt more compelled than ever this year to continue their tradition of serving Easter meals to those in need.
Now in its 34th year in the community, the Bensenville eatery gave away more than 500 meals on Easter Sunday. The servings consisted of ham, whipped potatoes, peas, carrots, a dinner roll and a dessert.
"It really feels good to give back to the community," owner Bob Tercall told the Daily Herald, adding that the act of kindness took on even more significance this year given everything that’s happening with the coronavirus.
Everyone did what they could to make the event a memorable one, with local police and emergency personnel making sure to be on hand to control the flow of traffic around the restaurant.
“I think that we have the best community,” said volunteer Marie Frey. "I am happy to help."
Village President Frank DeSimone was also on hand o provide assistance in any way he could.
