CITY OF DARIEN: Advanced Disposal: "Garbage Needs to Fit in the Container"

Trashrecycle

City of Darien recently issued the following announcement.

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Advanced Disposal is implementing the following to ensure the safety of their employees, customers and the public:

  • All trash/refuse and recycling must be placed in the company designated cart or a can with handles if you do not have a cart. Loose items outside of the container WILL NOT be collected.
  • For recycling, the 18-gallon bin is acceptable, but nothing can be outside of the bin.
  • All bulky item pickup/collection is suspended until further notice.
  • At this time, yard waste service is unaffected by these changes; however, Advanced Disposal anticipates potential changes to this service.
  • Advanced Disposal will continue to pick up items that are bagged and marked with a sticker, but anticipates that this may change as well. If possible, please place these items in a container and place the sticker on the handle of the container.
Because it is believed that the COVID-19 virus may be able to survive on surfaces for multiple days, Advanced Disposal asks that all garbage and recycling fit inside containers for the time being. This will ensure that all collections can be done by the refuse/recycling truck's automated arm.
