Bensenville School District 2 recently issued the following announcement.
Bensenville School District 2 is working with public health professionals to monitor concerns about the coronavirus.
Those medical experts follow guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They are also monitoring disease transmission as this situation develops. At this time, they consider Illinois residents at low risk for this illness, and have not recommended canceling classes and large gatherings. As with any global outbreak of an illness, this situation is rapidly evolving and recommendations are subject to change.
Moving forward, we will provide updates as recommended by these experts, and we will inform parents should new information emerge for our schools and our greater community.
For now, please use these everyday actions to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses:
- Your child should stay home if sick.
- A child who has been sick should not return to school until he/she has no longer run a fever (or shown any signs of one) without the use of fever-reducing medications for at least 24 hours.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue.
- Wash hands with soap and water. (Hand sanitizer is acceptable when soap and water is not available.)
- Stay home if you have been exposed to someone who is sick.
- If you are sick, cover your nose and mouth with a mask or cloth when you are around other people.
- Consult your healthcare provider if you have a concern for yourself or a family member who shows symptoms of illness.
- Consult CDC advisories if preparing to travel outside of the country, particularly to already impacted areas.
