Wood Dale Police Department issued the following announcement on Feb. 7.
Each year the Wood Dale Police Department recognizes individuals who go above and beyond for the Department and the City. These individuals display leadership and encourage cooperation amongst their peers. There were several nominations presented for both awards on each of the three shifts. After a great deal of discussion, the following individuals were selected: Detective Detective Arthur Zlotnicki and Records Specialist Meghan Spiewak. Both of these individuals stood out in 2019 in their respective roles in the department and are very deserving of the recognition.
Detective Zlotnicki has been with the department since 2011. Arthur started as a Patrol Officer and was then assigned as an undercover agent at DuMEG for four years. After serving another year as a supervisor with DuMEG, he returned to Wood Dale and was named as a Detective in 2019. He has also been trained as a Juvenile Officer and serves as a member of the Wood Dale Honor Guard. Arthur has a strong work ethic and works diligently to see every case through from start to finish. He never hesitates to assist co-workers in any situation and is willing to share the knowledge gained while at DuMEG. He also interacts well with the public and treats all individuals he encounters with respect. Arthur was recently recognized at a dinner hosted by the VFW Post in Wood Dale for his accomplishments.
Although Records Specialist Meghan Spiewak has only been with the Department for a year, she has proven to be an excellent addition. She consistently has an excellent attitude and is willing to assist with anyone who needs help. She has participated in several community service events including Bike with a Cop, Wood Dale Police Night Out, and Food for Families. Meghan is the first face you see when approaching the Records window and is always ready with a smile to assist anyone with their problems. She continually strives to learn more about her responsibilities and exceed expectations in his daily duties as a Records Specialist.
