Illinois State House District 46 issued the following announcement on Jan. 29.
State Rep. Deb Conroy, D-Villa Park, issued the following statement in response to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s State of the State address on Wednesday.
“As the Chair of the House Mental Health Committee and an advocate for mental healthcare and addiction services, this next year is critical in in the fight for affordable and accessible healthcare. As politicians in D.C. threaten to strip basic healthcare away from families and seniors, I’m proud to be a part of real solutions in Illinois that keep our families healthy and ensure that mental healthcare is approached with the same importance and urgency as physical health.
“As the Chair of the House Democratic Women’s Caucus, I am committed to our work on behalf of women across Illinois to advance women’s healthcare, support women in the workplace, and continue our work promoting safe and healthy work environments for all women.
“There is no doubt that last year was historic. Together, we passed critical reproductive healthcare protections for Illinois women to guarantee every woman the right to access breast and cervical cancer screenings, birth control and comprehensive reproductive healthcare. Together, we approved a plan that will be put to the voters to help relieve the tax burden on middle-class families in DuPage County. Together, we passed an historic capital infrastructure plan that will invest in our local roads, bridges, libraries, schools and parks. We did this all while passing a balanced and bipartisan budget plan that pays down old bills and meets the state’s full pension payment obligation. I am confident that by working together to put Illinois families first we can continue our work in the coming year on healthcare access, tax relief for the middle-class and commonsense policies for our families.”
