City of Elmhurst issued the following announcement on Dec. 5.

The City is proud to have received the Dupage Mayors and Managers Innovation Award for a third time! The award, which is voted on by municipal leaders throughout the county, is given to municipalities who have introduced an innovative service to their community.

In 2019, the City of Elmhurst won the award for ZoneScan and WaterSmart, an innovative new service that is used to detect leaks and track water usage throughout the City.

Elmhurst also received this award in 2014 for the Police Department’s Neighborhood Roll Call program, which is held in the Summer months. Each week, police officers hold their roll call in different neighborhoods in Elmhurst, offering residents a chance to ask questions and learn more from the officers that patrol their streets.

Elmhurst received the award again in 2017 for the Fire Department’s ALS Rapid Response, Rescue 1 fleet addition. The vehicle is a Ford Explorer that paramedics use around the clock to enhance ALS service to the residents of Elmhurst. All of the equipment including a cardiac monitor/defibrillator, ALS medications, and a Zoll AutoPulse, fits perfectly in the back of the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle is more maneuverable through city traffic.
