CITY OF WEST CHICAGO: Winter Butterflies to Adorn Community Tree

City of West Chicago issued the following announcement on Nov. 25.

West Chicago’s Gallery 200, 103 West Washington Street, was aflutter with activity last Friday.

Community members were invited to join staff from Kramer Tree Specialists, a West Chicago business which for the past ten years has generously donated their services to decorate the official tree for Frosty Fest, for a very special activity that was arranged as a final nod to West Chicago’s Year of the Butterfly.

Many answered the call to hand-paint and decorate 20 wooden butterflies, similar but smaller in size to those of a recent public art display, and the results were wonderful winter-themed butterflies which will be installed on the tree in early December.

It was a festive gathering, with Kramer Tree Specialists also supplying pizza and salad for those who attended. “It was great connecting with the community and the City through this activity. This year’s tree will be extra-special because of it,” said Paul Filary, Director of Operations for Kramer Tree Specialists.

The tree, located outside of the Fox Community Center at 306 Main Street in historic downtown West Chicago, takes center stage at the annual tree lighting ceremony on Saturday, December 7, 2019 immediately following the Frosty Fest procession, between approximately 4:15 – 4:30 p.m.
