ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 47: Mazzochi: Ethics Reforms a Farce

Criminallawyerorlandofl zps36d6640b

Illinois State House District 47 issued the following announcement on Nov. 14.

Illinois House passed legislation to tweak legislator statements of economic interest, created yet another task force, and called it reform. State Representative Deanne Mazzochi (R-Westmont) issued the following statement in response to the debate on ethics reform:

“To tout what passed as ethics reform is laughable. The culture of corruption in Springfield continues because the majority party in the House looks the other way on glaring ethics loopholes and they stall with commissions and task forces that they hope will placate the public until the latest corruption news dies down. Considering how many bills I’ve seen rammed through this legislative process, the idea that we didn’t have enough time to deal with ethics reform during this veto session is a total farce. The only thing standing in the way of the reform is the lack of will on the other side of the aisle.”
