Issued the following announcement on Sept. 25.

Jeanne Ives, Republican candidate for Congress (IL-06), released the following statement in response to Sean Casten and Congressional Democrats' move to begin an impeachment inquiry into President Trump:

"Sean Casten began pursuing impeachment before the transcript of President Trump’s July call with Ukraine President Zelensky was released, and before intel committees had obtained the whistleblower complaint. Casten is a bitter partisan - uninterested in evidence and indifferent to policy solutions.  Democrats in Congress have no serious governing agenda. They have no workable ideas to solve the problems with which most Americans are faced. So they are using a fanantical obsession with impeachment as cover.

"They won't act on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) for the sake of America's economy and workers.

"They won't act to protect private health insurance choices and quality of care.

"They won't act to secure our borders or provide a path for permanent status for DREAMERS.

"They are partisan hacks engaged in a perpetual tantrum over losing the 2016 election.

"The families and businesses of the Sixth District are reasonable, responsible people. They deserve a representative who will work to increase opportunity for them and their children, and who is focused on solving problems rather than exacerbating them.

"Sean Casten is only interested in obstructing his political opponents and stirring up animosity. He should be a TV pundit - not a member of Congress.

"The 2020 election is about our future quality of life, not their past political failures. I am confident the voters in IL-6 recognize that."
