Issued the following announcement on Sept. 23.

Jeanne Ives, Republican Candidate for Congress (IL-6), has been endorsed by the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund.

The SBA List, which is nearly a million members strong, supports candidates committed to defending life at all stages and to promotion laws that save lives.

The SBA List described Ives as “a bold pro-life leader who will fight to protect unborn children in Congress,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Illinois recently passed one of the most extreme abortion laws in the country – legalizing abortion up to the moment of birth, allowing non- doctors to perform abortions, and even repealing the state’s ban on gruesome partial-birth abortions. As a state legislator, Jeanne worked hard to oppose laws forcing taxpayers to fun abortion. Illinois citizens deserve a passionate pro-life advocate like Jeanne will stand up to the extreme abortion lobby in Washington.”

Ives’ opponent, Representative Sean Casten, has famously equated abortion with “gallbladder surgery” and has called legislation that protects life “stupid policy." As it relates to his legislative goals, Casten states, “I would love, as the inheritor of Henry Hyde’s seat, to be able to cast the deciding vote to repeal [The Hyde Amendment, which prevents government from forcing taxpayers to fund abortion]." Casten additionally lists Dan Savage as his ideological North Star. Savage has infamously called for “mandatory abortion.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Susan B. Anthony List in the 2020 primary,” said Ives. “They have been very effective in protecting innocent lives. I’ve always stood up for the rights of the unborn, as well as the health and safety of their mothers. As a Congresswoman, I will continue to defend our most vulnerable, and to advocate for those who are unable to advocate for themselves.”
