Q1 2019 Recap: Parolees in Aurora convicted of crimes involving weapons

There were six offenders convicted of crimes involving weapons released on parole in Aurora during the first quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows that five men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving weapons was 27. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old woman sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 35-year-old man sentenced in 2015.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Jose Ferrer. He was convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2015 when he was 30 years old. He is now 35.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
