City of West Chicago issued the following announcement on June 14.
Artist Shari Hohl has been going up to Door County for 23 years and continues to be amazed at the beauty around the county. She has been painting there for as long as she’s been going there. Her exhibit, Door County Memories, will be installed at Gallery 200, 103 W. Washington Street in historic downtown West Chicago on June 7, 2019 for her Opening Reception. Her work will remain at the Gallery for the rest of the month.

“I paint “plein air”, or when I am up there for some weeks at a time, I set up an easel where ever I am and paint on location. That location may be outside or from a room or porch where I am staying. I take a lot of photographs when I’m up there and those are the memories from which I paint,” Hohl wrote in a biographical piece.
She further states, “Since early childhood I have loved art and began classes in oil painting at the age of 12. I graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in art and have attended numerous courses and workshops in continuing education over the years.”
In whatever medium I am working, having fun and expressing myself is what art is all about for me.
The Opening Reception for “Door County” will take place on Friday, June 7, 2019, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
