The price of local government in 2016: Naperville Township

The Naperville Township budget was $5.04 million for its 2016 fiscal year.

That's a decrease of three percent from 2015, when the township spent $5.20 million.

Naperville Township has a population of 100,000.

Since 2001, the Naperville Township budget has grown by 44.8 percent, from $3.48 million. The township population has grown 96.1 percent over the same period, from 51,000.

Salaries accounted for 24.9 percent of township spending in 2016. Naperville Township property taxpayers paid $1.26 million for 20 full-time employees and 11 part-time employees.

In 2001, the township had 17 full-time employees and eight part-time employees, and spent $1.06 million.
