CITY OF ELMHURST POLICE DEPARTMENT: Elmhurst Citizen's Police Academy starting new session

City of Elmhurst Police Department issued the following announcement on Feb. 20.

The Elmhurst Citizen's Police Academy will be starting a new Spring 2019 session on Wednesday, March 13 through May 29.

The Citizen’s Police Academy is a 12-week program designed to give Elmhurst residents a behind-the-scenes look at their police department and a general overview of basic law enforcement practices. The program provides participants with a better understanding of some of the challenges faced by police officers in the field as well as insight into how and why situations might be resolved in a particular manner. Many of the classes offer opportunities for hands-on participation with actual police equipment and training procedures.

Each weekly block of instruction is held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on consecutive Wednesday evenings. The next session will begin on Wednesday, March 13th and continue through May 29, 2019. The program is free of charge but is limited to 25 students per session; participants must be over the age of twenty-one and live or work in the city of Elmhurst.
