Aurora University senior guard Tyler Carlson has joined the school’s 1,000-career-points club.
The 6'3", 210-pound Carlson netted 37 points against Concordia University of Chicago in a 97-84 home win at Thornton Gymnasium on Jan. 3 to officially become the 34th player in the school's history to reach such heights.
During the game, Carlson drained 14-of-20 shots, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range. With the win, the Spartans improved to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
Carlson also tied junior forward Jared Hotwagner for the team lead in assists with four. According to the school’s website, Carlson is now averaging 14 points and three assists for the season. He added to his career totals with 20 points and three assists in a 108-102 overtime road loss to Rockford University on Jan. 5.
The Spartans return to action Jan. 9, hosting Dominican University before facing off against Concordia University of Wisconsin on the road Jan. 12.
