Aurora University’s Jake Lysik has been named to a Division III Men’s Soccer Scholar All-American Team.
The senior defender, who led a Spartan defense that allowed an average of just 1.48 goals a game and pitched four shutouts on the season, was named to the third team, according to the school's website.
The award comes on the heels of Lysik also being named a Google Cloud (CoSIDA) Second-Team Academic All-American, Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Defensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference.
The 5-foot-11, 150-pound senior added 12 assists this season for the Spartans, who finished the year 9-9-1 overall, and 8-2-1 in the NACC, good for second place in the conference.
Members of the all-scholar team were required to have a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout their careers, be at least a junior in academic standing and have started at least 50 percent of all their team’s games.
