COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 89: Donate blood at Glen Crest on January 9 and get free pasta!

Blood

Community Consolidated School District 89 recently issued the following announcement.

You can fulfill that first New Year’s resolution – and get a free bowl of pasta – by donating blood at Glen Crest Middle School on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. The blood drive will be open from 2 to 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of the school at 725 Sheehan Avenue, Glen Ellyn.

Anyone who donates on January 9 will receive a coupon for a free Noodles and Co. entrée with the purchase of a Coca-Cola freestyle drink.

The blood drive is open to anyone in the community. Appointments will be honored first. To schedule a time, go to: https://ht.heartlandbc.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/2036241

You can also call or text your name and desired time to Camille from Heartland Blood Centers at (847) 305-9998 to be added to the schedule.

Blood donation is a simple four-step process: registration, medical history, donation, and refreshments. Blood donation usually takes about 10 to 12 minutes. The entire process, from arrival to exit, takes about an hour.

In order to donate, you need to be at least 17 years old and in good health. You must weigh at least 110 pounds and have not donated blood for at least eight weeks. It is recommended that a donor eat something within the four hours prior to donation.

Glen Crest Middle School has become a regular host site for Heartland drives. The district will host blood drives from 2 to 6:30 p.m. at Glen Crest on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, March 6, 2019
  • Wednesday, May 1, 2019
  • Wednesday, August 28, 2019
