The new budget proposed by Village of Glen Ellyn calls for $76,515,223 in expenditures in fiscal year 2019, which is 1.1 percent more than what this year’s budget provides.
Officials have until Dec. 31 to approve a budget.
The village proposes spending $2,470,478 on municipal worker pensions, which is 3.2 percent of the total budget. The pension amount reflects taxpayer contributions to current police employees, as well as other municipal employees.
A total of $9,583,227, or 12.5 percent of total village expenditures, would go to police protection, while fire services represent 2.2 percent of the 2019 budget, or $1,675,037. Contributions to the Illinois Municipal Retirement fund total $511,478, or 0.7 percent.
The budget proposal mentioned the following tax or fee changes: a property tax rate increase of 2.1 percent.
