Indian Prairie Community Unit School District 204 issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.
District 204's Board of Education announced the selection of Natasha Grover to fill the open seat created by board member Lori Price's recent departure. The board will vote to approve Grover at its October 22, 2018 meeting. Once approved, she will serve until the next school board election in April 2019.
Since 2004, Grover has worked as an attorney advisor with the Social Security Administration. In her role, she focuses primarily on disability benefits, writing decisions for judges and rendering legal advice for cases. She also mentors and trains attorneys on regulation changes. Prior to her current position, Grover worked as an attorney for the Department of Children & Family Services and the Immigrant Law Center. She has been an engaged volunteer in District 204 since her oldest child, who is now a freshman in college, attended kindergarten. She currently has children who attend Welch Elementary and Neuqua Valley High School. In addition to volunteering in the schools, Grover has volunteered her time for a variety of causes, including homelessness, mental illness, pro bono adoption, and Gavel Clubs where children learn communication skills.
Board President Michael Raczak said, "Natasha's personal and professional experiences impressed the board. We look forward to welcoming her to the team."
Grover earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from George Washington University and her Juris Doctor from Washington College of Law, American University.
Thirty-two community members applied to fill the open board position. The board narrowed the candidates to six before selecting Grover. Raczak said the board was appreciative to have so much interest. "We were fortunate to have a very strong candidate pool. Our community has many talented members who are willing to volunteer their time to work on behalf of our students and staff."
