Retired Glen Ellyn SD 41 employee Sandra Wroblewski saved $42,057 toward her pension over 15 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.
Over 35 years of retirement, Wroblewski would collect as much as $1.241 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes DuPage Policy Journal.
Wroblewski, 60, who currently lives in Carol Stream, earned $72,409 in her final year at Glen Ellyn SD 41.
The projection assumes Wroblewski will receive 26.6 percent of that total - $19,232 - in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Wroblewski will have already received $59,444 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 57.8 percent of Glen Ellyn SD 41 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams.
