Retired Naperville CUSD 203 employee Lisa Jacoby saved $57,940 toward her pension over 15 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.
Over 35 years of retirement, Jacoby would collect as much as $1.357 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes DuPage Policy Journal.
Jacoby, 60, who currently lives in Naperville, earned $74,102 in her final year at Naperville CUSD 203.
The projection assumes Jacoby will receive 28.4 percent of that total - $21,037 - in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Jacoby will have already received $65,025 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 65.7 percent of Naperville CUSD 203 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams. ISBE reported that 77.3 percent of district's graduates were deemed "college ready" last year.
