Downers Grove Grade School District 58 students suspended 24 times in a single school year

Downers Grove Grade School District 58 reported 24 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 24 students during the year. That equates to 0.5 percent of the 5,207 students enrolled.

Of the 24 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 23 incidents. There were one incidents of alcohol. For 23 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
