Lombard School District 44 students suspended 41 times in a single school year

Lombard School District 44 reported 41 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 41 students during the year. That equates to 1.3 percent of the 3,182 students enrolled.

Of the 31 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence that caused physical injury. The category includes 28 incidents. There were two incidents of violence without physical injury. For 24 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 10 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes five incidents. There were four incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For five incidents, students were suspended for 3-5 days.
