Tonia Khouri wants every other Illinois resident to experience what she did when they open their property tax bill.
“Going through the painful experience of paying my property taxes today,” Khouri recently posted on Facebook. “I'm proud to say that DuPage County lowered the portion of your tax bill once again. Can't say the same for other government agencies.”
Khouri, who is running against Democrat Katrina Villa to replace retiring Rep. Mike Fortner (R-West Chicago) in the 49th House District, aims to change all that.
“I'm looking forward to getting to Springfield to work on pension reform that should help all our governmental agencies, but especially our schools,” she added in her post.
Khouri has based her campaign on a platform of pension and spending reforms, recently telling WIND AM 560 radio: “Everybody is saying high property taxes are a concern. It doesn’t matter what demographic they are.”
