LISLE COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT 202: Four Students Earn Honors in State Poetry Contest

Lisle Community Unit School District 202 issued the following announcement on April 30.

We are pleased to share that four Lisle 202 students received awards from the Illinois TESOL-BE (Illinois Chapter, Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages - Bilingual Education) in a State Poetry Contest.

Students were asked to compose poetry that compares life in their native country to life in the United States. This topic allowed students to express themselves using prior knowledge and experiences.

Samuel Gurrola Alanis "Chilli" Open Poem 2nd Grade Newcomer award

Jose Garcia "Soccer" Open Poem 2nd grade 1st place Open Poem Category

Zaid Ghanem "One Star" Open Poem 2nd grade 1st place Open Poem Category

Ameyali Herrera-Hernandez "My Past Christmas in Mexico"
