Kinzler easily wins primary in bid for House seat in 46th District

Glen Ellyn Republican Jay Kinzler easily topped Roger Orozco Tuesday night in the 46th House District Republican primary, earning the right to face incumbent Rep. Deb Conroy (D- Villa Park) in November’s general election.

With 99 percent of all votes counted, Kinzler finished the night with 1,177, or 79.85 percent, to Orozco’s 297 votes and 20.15 percent.

Kinzler’s platform of more government accountability and stricter term limits seemed to register with voters from the outset. At one point, he compared the way Springfield now operates with the regime of a dictatorship.

“That’s not good and something our founding fathers never meant to happen,” he previously told the DuPage Policy Journal.

Kinzler said that level of dysfunction in government was largely responsible for the state’s spiraling outmigration problem.

“We’re losing our best because they see better opportunities in other places,” he said. “We have to get pension liabilities in order.”

The 46th District includes all or part of Glendale Heights, Carol Stream and Villa Park.
