4. CHAIRWOMAN'S REMARKS
Chairwoman Khouri presented three new laws to the Committee that became effective January 1, 2018. The Entrepreneurial Curriculum in Schools (Public Act 100-174, House Bill 3368), the High-Skilled Manufacturing Curriculum in Schools (Public Act 100-175, House Bill 3369), and the Angel Investment Credit (Public Act 100-328, Senate Bill 2012). The Chairwoman will be following all three of these Bills closely but made a special note on the High-Skilled Manufacturing Curriculum in Schools, where the State Board of Education will make resources available to high schools and vocational education programs for the purpose of teaching highskills manufacturing curriculum.

The Choose DuPage update was re-scheduled to February 20th, 2018.
10. WORKNET - UPDATE
Ms. Schvach, Director of Workforce Development, discussed the Closing of Sam's Club in Naperville and how workNet will be participating in Rapid Response to help those workers affected by this lay off.
Ms. Schvach also updated the Committee about a potential Youth Resolution for Career Tech Education in High Schools that was discussed in the November Committee Meeting. A meeting is being arranged with Superintendents and Employers for discussion. The Superintendents would speak to the efforts under way in their respective Districts and the employers could express their needs for hiring, training, and education.
Ms. Schvach is exploring a pilot program to help individuals with substance abuse problems who are currently incarcerated. This would be an incentive program to prepare incarcerated individuals for re-entry into the community and give them an opportunity to learn basic manufacturing skills. This training could be started prior to their release so they could start on site training with manufacturers upon release.
11. OLD BUSINESS
Committee Members received their requested information including how much individuals will need to pay in additiqonal taxes after the 32% income tax increase, estimated revenue cuts per municipalities due to the state of Illinois' newly implemented administration fee, and DuPage communities involved with Sister Cities International.
