Lisle-Woodridge FPD responds to 128 fires in 2016

Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District responded to 163 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The calls in Lisle-Woodridge included 128 fires - 63 structure fires, 19 vehicle fires and 42 other fires. The fire department also responded to four calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $3,101,050 in fire loss - or about $24,227 per fire.

The department also received one false call, including 34 malicious calls and 1 other false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, four fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents and one was injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Lisle-Woodridge FPD Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 104 active employees and 63 retired or inactive employees, was $4,646,134 in debt as of December 2015, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $36,298 for every fire in 2016.
