Addison FPD responds to 138 fires in 2016

Addison Fire Protection District responded to 526 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The calls in Addison included 138 fires - 80 structure fires, 16 vehicle fires and 30 other fires. The fire department also responded to 12 calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $896,170 in fire loss - or about $6,494 per fire.

The department also received 388 false calls, including 38 malicious calls and 350 other false calls.

The Addison Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 51 active employees and 55 retired or inactive employees, was $3,180,810 in debt as of May 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $23,049 for every fire in 2016.
