Rep. David Olsen (R-Downers Grove) will host a free seminar on Sept. 9 for residents of the 81st House District to gain a better understanding of property tax assessments and the appeals process, according to a press release.
In addition to Olsen, Downers Grove Township Assessor Greg Boltz, Lisle Township Assessor John Trowbridge and DuPage Township Assessor Jean Kelly will be on hand to provide their insight.
"It’s my pleasure to bring these tax assessment experts together to explain how tax bills are created and outline the process to follow if a taxpayer believes they are being over-assessed," Olsen said.

Following the presentation, participants can talk with their local assessor about specific concerns.
"At a time when many homeowners feel they are being taxed out of their homes, it is important that they understand the assessment process and know what remedies are available to them," Olsen said.
The seminar will take place at the Downers Grove Public Library at 1050 Curtiss St. in Downers Grove from 10 a.m. to noon. RSVPs are encouraged by calling 630-737-0504.
