Northern Illinois communities deserve credit for combing together to combat recent flooding in Lake and McHenry counties, U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) said in a recent press release.
“Illinois has among the best emergency mutual-aid systems of any state," he said in the statement. "When emergencies arise, local and county governments and citizens come together to help one another. DuPage County sent in sandbags, Cook County lent its massive sandbag-filling machine and many other communities are contributing, helping us fill any needs that arise. I urge our communities to continue to band together and keep an eye out for neighbors who may need assistance. Don’t hesitate to reach out to my office and county and city officials if there is anything else we can do to help.”
Hultgren's office has been receiving updates from and getting resources to the affected areas with the state's Emergency Management Agency and the governor's office, as well as officials and emergency management agencies in Lake and McHenry counties, the news release said.
