City of Aurora Public Art Commission met May 18.
Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:
Members Present: Julie Gervais, Chris Hoban, John Stanicek, Alexis Cardenas, Landa Midgeley, Gail Piccolo
Members Not Present: Melissa Mercado, Jane Regnier, Nafisa Husain
Non-members Present: Sandy Stanicek
New business was presented by Kim Granholm, president of Aurora Fastprint
Granholm shared plans and creative design for mural she would like to install on the back wall of her building (54 East Galena Blvd.)
Cheryl Holz designed the mural and it includes many historical references to Aurora and both 2D and 3D elements.
Aurora Fastprint will print several sections of the mural.
Ganholm is funding the cost of the mural.
Special Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 5/31, at 4:30 to follow up and provide approval for mural.
Jazz Occurance on 5/5 - Members agreed event was very successful
WWI Exhibit - With the Colors from Aurora, a Memorial to WWI - Event scheduled for Memorial Day: Monday, 5/29, 10am-2pm
Exhibit will include a hand-built trench and WWI artifacts from Aurora Mural RFP sent out - Deadline for submission is 6/16
Submissions will be reviewed at next APAC Meeting: 7/20, 4:30pm

Chris Hoban led the APAC members in thanking Rena Church for her great contributions to the commission and her dedication to providing quality public art in Aurora
