The price of local government: Village of Wayne

The Village of Wayne budget was $4.89 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $8,868.15 per household.

That's an increase of 8.6 percent from 2014, when the village spent $4.50 million, or $8,167.87 per household.

Wayne has 551 households and a population of 2,431.

Since 2001, the Village of Wayne budget has grown by 19.1 percent, from $4.10 million. The village population has grown 13.8 percent over the same period, from 2,137.

Salaries accounted for 13.2 percent of village spending in 2015. Wayne property taxpayers paid $645,446.82 for five full-time employees and 19 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had six full-time employees and eight part-time employees, and spent $569,417.21.
